THAT BEING SAID, I do like your point about beautiful 2D art. It feels like hypocrisy in art form.Īt least the Pixel Remaster looks like the SNES game, which was itself modeled after the NES games, which is where these limitations were born, and so it at least looks honest to its roots and has a sense of humility to it that just feels nice to see especially in 2021. It's like pretending to be limited while not being limited at all. They're not bad, but having so much detail with such a limited frame count really makes it look like the boring style of modern RPG Maker engines. Look, I loved the PSP version and all but I too think the sprites looked rather silly in it. My personal favorite is the first version on SNES. What can I say, I love all of them! They each have flaws but each have their advantages. I own older versions that I bought much later than their release date. Same for DS, Smartphone and Steam versions. I did buy the PSP version when it came out :)
